All's
Fair In Love And
Choreographers: Lisa and Christine Brkich
All's Fair In Love And
is a cross-cultural work amalgamating
elements of Balkan folklore and contemporary dance. It is a 20-minute work
in six movements depicting the reality of loss during times of war. This
is the story of six women whose survival lies in the solitude of simple
rituals. They have witnessed the fall of their families, their country and
their identities. The only path in healing is to tell their story.
Once
Spoken
Choreographer: Claire Ward
Set during the Victorian Era, Once Spoken uncovers the frustrations
and limitations of a young woman struggling for identity. Suffocating
in a life of restrictions, she wrestles internally with bitterness and
doubt, thoughts that increasingly alienate her from her peers. Spurred
by anger, pushed to the limit, her thoughts find a voice and suffocation
is quickly replaced with fear of the unknown and herself.
Maestro's
First In ll:A:ll
Choreographer: Lisa Brkich
The Maestro's First In ll:A:ll introduces us to an intense conductor
who cannot seem to get his musical clowns in order. This work is a light-
hearted humorous look at the struggles of being the consummate artist,
and the freedom of being the eternal child.
The
Butterfly's Tale
Choreographer: Lisa Brkich
A story
of love, life and innocence where a young girl learns of the turbulence
and the beauty of life's cycles through the metamorphosis of a butterfly
and the ever-changing inevitability of the seasons. The butterfly teaches
us that in living there is always dying, and yet the seasons beautifully
illustrate that in dying, there is always new life.
